PLACES

NEPAL

Modern Nepal is a fascinating, diverse place. Its capital, Kathmandu, is a multi-sensory experience: an overwhelming and seemingly endless hubbub of traffic, people, animals, smog, and noise. Spend enough time wandering its winding and narrow streets, however, and you’ll find that the cacophony is what makes it feel as though the city is its own living entity. But as one of the least developed countries in the world, if Kathmandu is the beating heart of Nepal, then the rural areas and remote mountains, which account for most of the country, are its soul. Amongst the famous peaks that draw many visitors to Nepal are old forests, terraced foothills, remote villages, and, of course, the people themselves.
